IMPHAL, July 9: The Imphal West district police have arrested an active member of KCP(Noyon) faction involved in the exploding a hand grenade at the residence of Executive Engineer of Electricity Department today.
A statement issued by the PRO, Police department, S Gautam Singh, identified the arrested as Moiranghtem Gandhi Singh, 28 son of M Jarmo Singh of Sekmai bazar. He was reportedly arrested from Sekmai bazar.
A bolero jeep (white) bearing registration number MMN05A/2397 which was used in committing the crime along with one mobile police station, were seized from him and a case has been registed at the Imphal Police station, it said.
On the other hand, the Imphal East district police commando unit also reportedly arrested one arm smuggler and drug trafficker identified as Md Tari Ali alias Ibocha, 33, son of (L) Md Taher Ali of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai from Kyamgei Muslim Mayai Leikai on July 7.
A mobile handset along with SIM card and a pistol along with magazine and two rounds were seized from him, further said the statement.
