Prosecution witness crossed examined in RK Meghen case

IMPHAL, July 1: Cross examination of prosecution witness of the case against UNLF chief RK Meghen alias Sanayaima and his associates continued today at the NIA Special Court, Guwahati.

During today’s proceeding, deputy superintendent of Police (IT) NIA, Sateesh Chand, prosecution witness number 53, deposed before the court.

While Diliipkumar Das, NIA counsel appeared before the court, three defence counsels recorded and cross examined the statement of the prosecution witness.

Sources informed that the proceeding began from 11. 30 am and lasted till 5.30 in the evening.

As per the provision of under section 27 of evidence act, altogether 653 numbers of assorted documents relating to the banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF) were exhibited by Sateesh Chand before the court claiming to be downloaded from various email IDs of UNLF operatives.

The defence counsel enquired whether there was any witness while downloading the exhibits, the prosecution submitted names two independent witnesses.

However, the names were not reflected in the charge sheet filed by NIA (case 1 of 2010 (special trial) u/s 121/121-A/120-B IPC, 16/17/18/20 UA (P) Act, 2014).

The proceeding will also further continue tomorrow.
