IMPHAL, June 30: The two days training on citrus decline of mandarin orange in Tamenglong district in Manipur was held today at the conference room Hotel Imphal organised by department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur.
Gaikhangam, deputy Chief Minister attended the function as the chief guest, Vungzagin Valte parliamentary secretary (H and Sc), Manipur and Z Kikhonbou Newmai vice chairman HAC/MLA, Tamei, Humaliabou, chairman ADC, Tamenglong, Janghemlung Panmei, MLA, Tamenglong, J C Ramthanga, IAS and Dr R C Upadhyaya, chief consultant MIDH, government of India as the guest of honour.
While giving keynote address at the function Md Hafizuddin Khan, incharge orange development programme said that the main purpose of the training is to make the farmers aware of the reason behind the decline of mandarin orange.
He further said that from this year the department will be producing healthy planting material which will be distributed specially for Tamenglong district he added.
Gaikhangam said that what is important is to properly train and make aware the farmers so that they have the full knowledge on how to cultivate increase the productivity every year. He further said that the experts and the department should take the initiative, should make the facilities available, work culture and spirit should be there within the farmers.
He appealed the farmers to get the knowledge and benefit from the training programme and added that the production of any fruits in large quantity not only benefit the district but it is also a means to help the state economy.
