Breast feeding week observed at Senapati and Kangpokpi

IMPHAL, August 6: The Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit, Government of India, Imphal has observed the ‘World Breast Feeding Week’ at the ICDS conference hall on August 6, a press release said. 

According to the release, the program was organised in collaboration with District ICDS Cell Senapati, ICDS Kangpokpi and Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kangpokpi. 

An exhibition in relation with infant and young child under the theme- Breast feeding: ‘A winning goal for life’ was also held. 

Participating in the programme, Demonstration Officer of the Unit, S. Bihari Singh, stressed on the correct norms of breast feeding and IMS Act. The programme was attended by a total of 250 Anganwadi worker/Helpers, NYK volunteers and adolescent girls. 

The programme was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi, D K Thangboi as chief guest, District Program Officer, ICDS Cell Senapati, N. Modhubala Devi as president and District Youth Co-ordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Government of India, Kangpokpi, S. Gourakishore Singh as the guest of honour. ICDS Project, Kangpokpi, SA, Ch. Budhachandra gave the welcome speech, it said.
