CM’s effigy burnt at ILP demonstration

BISHNUPUR, August 10: The JCILPS along with local bodies jointly organised a number of agitations in different places of Bishnupur as part of the ongoing movements for ILP in Manipur.

A sit in protest cum public meeting was held by around 1600 locals of Kha Potsangbam demanding the implementation of ILP at Kha Potsangbam Community Hall. 

The resource person of the meeting was president of IKAL and co-convenor of JCILPS, Luwangleima. 

Effigy of Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi was burned as part of the agitation.

Similar protest demonstrations were also held at Nambol Naorem Mini Bazaar by Nambol Naorem Meira Paibi, at Phubala by Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL) unit 3, at Upokpi by the locals, at Nachou Panthong participated by around 3000 villagers of Nachou, at Lamlanghupi Communiyt Hall by Lamlanghupi (Chothe) Youth Volunteer Organisation and Lamlanghupi (Chothe) Women Society. 

President of ANUL Bishnupur district, O. Sumati and president of EECHAL, Premita were the resource persons.

The ANUL Nambol unit also held demonstrations at Nambol Khajiri Mamang Leikai. A roadblock was staged as part of the agitation at Naorem.

Similar protest were also staged at different places in Imphal.
