Customs and Traditions Day observed at GM Hall

IMPHAL, August 14: People from both the valley and the hills should remain united and strive for bringing peace in the State, Custom and Tradition Celebration Committee (CTCC) treasurer Indira Leima said.

She was speaking on the occasion of the Eleventh Customs and Traditions Celebration Day observations at the GM hall today. The day has been observed for the last 10 years to commemorate the departure of the British from the soil of Manipur.

There should not be any difference between communities, she said, adding that we are all one.

Meanwhile, Jamuna Devi, a councillor with the Thoubal Municipal Council said dirty places and clothes can be washed but a filthy mind is hard to cleanse.

A society needs honest, kind hearted people to bring unity and peace, she added.

The observance was also attended by Manipur State Co-operative Union president L Tompisak Singh, Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur chairman H Naba Singh, CTCC president and founder Meitei Layeng president Dr N Ibohal Meitei, CTCC chief advisor and National and International awardee Mangisana.
