A two day documentary film workshop was organised by Prodigal Ministry at Tamei, Tamenlong district under the sponsorship of TRI (Tribal Research Institute) Imphal from 14th to 15th August 2014.

The workshop was conducted by award winning filmmaker Oinam Doren and A. Bikeshwor Sharma, an FTII graduate in digital cinematography. 73 participants took part in the intense interactive sessions combine with film screenings. Dee Abonmai, the General Secretary of Prodigal Ministry said that the workshop was organised with the objective of developing the local filmmaking talents of the Liangmai community. He himself has produced more than 9 films but often felt handicapped due to lack of professional training.

Tamei which is located 118 Kms from Imphal has one of the worst road connectivity and mobile network in the state. Inspite of belonging to a small community and presence of any theatre in Tamei town, the Liangmai film enthusiasts continue to make films that are distributed only through DVDs. while profits are never a part of any film venture, they felt the need to tell their stories to a larger world. The film workshop which was being conducted for the first time in the town closed with the screening of acclaimed feature film from Mizoram ‘Khwanglung run’ set in 1860’s in the Lushai Hills which experience the tragic attack on Khwanglung village.
