Dr. Nara of Manipur to attend 21st World Congress on nuclear war prevention at Kazakhistan

IMPHAL, Aug 22: State secretary of CPI ,Manipur State Council, Dr M Nara is to attend the 21st World Congress of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War scheduled to be held at Kazakhistan, Soviet Republic.

The week long congress is scheduled to start from August 25 and representatives from 50 countries are to take part.

Dr Nara is selected from among 38 other delegates who will represent India. Among them, four persons including Nara are to leave for Kazakhistan tomorrow.

Speaking to IFP, Nara said the congress is organised by Indian Doctors for Peace and Development. The Indian chapter was established in 1984 and Nara is the present vice-president. It may be mentioned that the organizser of the congress was awarded the Nobel Peace prize in 1985.

During the congress, 450 nuclear sites will be inspected by a team. The theme of the congress is to prevent any future nuclear holocaust from happening.
