Nagaland-Assam dispute triggers panic buying of fuel in State

IMPHAL, Aug 19: Long queues were witnessed on Tuesday in front of most oil pumps triggered by fear of fuel scarcity in the State over reports of oil tankers meant for the State being stranded at the Golaghat area of the Assam-Nagaland border.

The ongoing conflict between Nagaland and Assam had left several oil tankers stranded in Assam as was reported in local dailies.

However, official sources claimed that there were still 15 days of fuel stock in the State and that the stranded tankers numbering around 130 will be reaching the State by tomorrow.

Another 117 empty oil tankers are preparing to leave Imphal to procure fuel from different parts of Assam
