Pine logs to be auctioned off by Forest Dept

IMPHAL, August 8: The Divisional Forest Officer had notified that an auction sale of 17 numbers pine logs having 2.297 cum. and 74 numbers having 10.262 cum. will be held at the office of Central Forest division, Mantripukhri on August 22 at 12.30 pm and 2 pm respectively.

According to a release of the DFO, the auction will be held under the conditions that only registered/individual qualified Forest contractors/HPC cleared saw mills can join the sale. The pine logs will be sold in single or whole lots and timbers, inspections of the logs may be carried out by intending bidders to satisfy themselves of the quality and quantity of the timber before joining the auction after which no complains will be entertained.

It further stated that intending bidders must deposit a sum of Rs.1000/- for 17 logs and Rs.4500/- for the 74 logs in the form of D-at-Call for the whole lot drawn in favour of DFO/Central Forest Division, Manipur from SBI or any other Scheduled Bank as earnest money deposit for joining the auction sale.

Sawing of the purchased timber is allowed only at authorized saw mills cleared by the HPC. The earnest money deposited will be refunded after finalization of successful bidder or forfeited in case of violation of terms and conditions of the sale. However, amount will be adjusted for successful bidders towards the amount to be paid by them. Bided amount cannot be withdrawn as it will be forfeited in case of withdrawal, the release said.

Furthermore, successful bidders must deposit the bid amount along with VAT at 13.5% of the bid amount to the division office within 3 days of the approval, failing to do so will result in forfeiting of the deposited money to the Government and the auction will be deposited off in favour of the next second highest bidder, it added.

The DFO/Central Forest Division reserves the rights not to accept or reject any tender/bid without assigning any reasons, acceptance of the bid will be subject to the approval of the authority of the Forest Department and the decision of the principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Manipur will be final incase of any dispute that may arise, it said.
