IMPHAL, August 18: Maisnam Suresh Singh, 22, son of M Lokken Singh, accuse in the alleged rape of a girl at Ghari who was arrested on August 16 has been remanded to six days police custody by the duty magistrate, Imphal West district.
Meanwhile, both the accused and victim were conducted medical examination at the Forensic Science Medicine, RIMS.
It may be mentioned that the alleged rape had taken place around 1.30 on August 14, when the victim was taking a nap. The report said taking the advantage the accused sneaked into her room.
She was reportedly gagged using a pillow but in her struggle the victim kicked the wall which alerted the attention of the people sitting in the next room.
Soon after the incident, a joint meeting was convened by Ghari Apunba Nupi Lup, Ghari Youth Welfare Association, Ghari Youth Club in connection with the incident, at Ghari Maning Leikai Community Hall.
