Union transport minister to visit Manipur in October

IMPHAL, August 13: The Union Minister for surface and transport Nitin Gadkari will be in Imphal to see the overall situation of the State in October this year. Nitin Gadkari gave his assurance to BJP Manipur Pradesh delegation led by Th Chaoba who called on the minister on August 12 at the Transport Bhawan, New Delhi.

According to a reliable source, the delegation drew the attention of the Union minister for improvement and development of National Highways passing through the State, particularly the Imphal-Jiri road. The minister assured the delegation that work will be taken up on priority basis under his direct supervision.

The minister also agreed to the delegation’s proposal of immediate expansion of NH 150 from Malom to Churachandpur. Accordingly, the minister directed the Union secretary for surface transport V Chhibber to expedite the matter, and also directed him to visit the State within a month.

Meanwhile, Gadkari had asked the BJP delegation to prepare a concrete ‘Vision Document’ for development of Manipur and submit it to him so that his government can discuss and take forward the proposal.

Earlier, the delegation had also called on the Union Tourism and Culture Minister in the morning of the same day. They submitted a proposal for a Cultural Institute in Manipur.
