CM takes State law and order issue to Delhi

IMPHAL, September 2: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who have got an appointment with the Union Home Minister Raj Nath Singh to discuss the present law and order situation of the State are scheduled to meet him tonight.

State Education minister Moirangthem Okendro informed the media in a press meet at his office in the New Secretariat that the two senior Congress leaders sought an appointment with the Union Home Minister today to apprise him of the present law and order situation in the State, and the impending indefinite bandh in the Naga habited areas and the shutting down of National Projects.

Aftermath the unfortunate incident in Ukhrul which claimed the lives of two protesters, he said,the UNC has threatened to impose an indefinite bandh in the hill districts which has caused panic to the people of Manipur about the impending scarcity of essential commodities and petroleum products.

The Education minister said that the two leaders will bring positive results and normalcy in the State.

Meanwhile, the State government has appealed to the people to refrain from panic buying petroleum products and essential commodities. In a latter development, it is reported that the CM and deputy CM left Imphal at 4:30 pm in an Air India flight.
