Festival of Narrative Arts concludes

IMPHAL, September 27: The 10th Festival of Narrative Arts under the aegis of Department of Culture, government of Manipur was concluded today at Indira Gandhi Memorial Community Hall, Mekola Bazar.

The festival was organised jointly by Theatre Centre Manipur, JN Manipur Dance Academy and Mekola Dramatic Union which commenced from September 21.

In the function social activist and educationist, S Manaoton Singh was the chief guest, Chairperson, Theatre Centre; Wareppa Naba was the functional president, Educationist, Soraisam (O) Premila Devi and Secretary, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council, Shougrakpam Hemanta were the guests of honor.

As a part of the function Sheidamkhol of Haobam Marak presented Khubak Eshei. Life-time achievement awards were also distributed to 16 persons from different fields of narrative art.

The artists are Okram Baruni of Pukhao for Wari Liba, P Gandhi and Ksh Gyanendro of Lairenjam for Lairk Thiba Haiba, M Tomba of Kwakeithel for Khongjom Parba, L Yaima of Lairenjam for Pena Phamshak, N Tarunibala of Haobam Marak for Khubak Eshei, Kh Ibobi of lairenjam for Lairik Thiba; while W Tomchou of Kodompokpi, H Pitambor of Lairenjam, Sh Ibobi of Meitram, Ksh Chaobihal of Lairenjam, Kh Pralharda of Meitram, H Ibohal of Kodompokpi, Sh Ibochou of Meitram, K Manglemchandra and H Tomba of Kodompokpi for other genres of narrative art were given life-time achievement award.
