IMPHAL, Sept 4: The Governor of Manipur, VK Duggal has extended his greetings to the people of Manipur and especially to the members of the teaching community on the occasion of Teachers’ Day 2014.
According to a release of the Governor, the day is celebrated in memory of Doctor S. Radhakrishnan, a renowned educationist, scholar and former President of India on his birth anniversary. He further said that every human being has to go through a learning phase and his mentor’s ability will determine the performance of his pupils. The traditional Guru-Shishya parampara has yielded to the present system of schools, colleges and universities but the basic principle of imparting knowledge continues to be the same. Therefore, the services of the teachers are needed to be acknowledged as they are the molders of the future, it said.
