Meeting held to rebuild flood destroyed cremation ground

CHANDEL, September 21: A meeting for the Hindu religion community was held following the collapse of the fencing wall of the All Hindu Community Cremation ground on account of a flood. The meeting was held at the Border Trade and Chamber of Commerce Moreh Office today at its office.

The meeting was attended by the General Secretary of Border Trade and Chamber of Commerce, Surendar Singh Patheja, President of Meitei Council Moreh, M. Thoiba Singh, Secretary of Tamil Sangam Moreh, M. Subramaniam, Advisor of Tamil Sangam, KBS Maniam and President of Marwari Samaj, Santosh Kumar Jain a presidium members.

The whole of the cremation ground fencing collapsed while submerged by overflowing water from the confluence of two rivers, Lairok and Khujarok.

The shed which is near the river is also in a dilapidated condition and the shed where the firewood for the cremation is kept is also destroyed by the flood.

The meeting also decided to submit an application to the 42 Tengnoupal A/C MLA, D. Korunthang to build a new crematorium and copies of the application would to be submitted to Chairman of ADC, Chandel, Lutkhosei Zou, DC Chandel and ADC Moreh as well.

The meeting was attended by Bihari, Nepali, Bengali, Meitei and Meitei leaders.
