KANGPOKPI, September 16: A one day non-residential Community Mobilization cum Training for School Management Development Committee/SMC and PRI under BEO, Saitu Gamphazol Block was inaugurated today at Block Resource Centre, Saitu Gamphazol.
The training programme was organised by the deputy inspector of School/DDO, Saitu Gamphazol and inaugurated by T Upendra Singh, sub-deputy collector, Saitu Gamphazol in the presence of Kouncha Sitlhou, DIS/DDO, Saitu Gamphazol.
The inaugural function was also attended by headmaster, headmistress, members of School Management and Development Committees, SMC and PRI of various schools apart from several village chiefs.
Kouncha Sitlhou said that the various facilities provided under SSA are meant only for the schools and its students and not for any individual while adding that the concerned school headmaster/headmistress and SMDC should initiate proper measures and utilised all facilities provided accordingly and satisfactorily.
The deputy inspector of schools also urged every village authority to render the most excellent cooperation and support towards the concerned school authority for the smooth functioning and proper implementation of the schemes and facilities provided for the schools for the welfare of the students.
In the training session Dr Memchanu Devi and K Brajagopal Singh attended the function as resource persons while Dr Memchanu Devi accentuated on the topics of role and responsibilities of SMDC/SMC members K Brajogopal Singh emphasised on Right to Education and duties of SMDC/SMC members.
School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) should be of 14 members comprising 10 members from parents or guardian of the students, one member each from the local authority and from local educationist and the other one is to be Headmaster/Headmistress or senior most teacher of the school while women should comprised at least 50 per cent of the members, Dr Memchanu Devi said.
She further said that headmaster/ headmistress or senior most teacher of the school should hold the top post ie chairperson of the SMDC and vice chairperson as well as convenor post should be given to any one of the 10 elected members from parents or guardian of the student.
She also pointed out village chief can only be a convenor of SMDC only if his or her ward attended in the particular school otherwise there is no possibility of giving a convenor post to the village chief, which is habitually practiced in most of the school before adding that parents or guardian of disabled student is compulsory to be included in the SMDC member.
