IMPHAL, September 20: The policy of rationalisation of teachers adopted by education (S) must come to an end because it is being executed in a sloppy manner.
This was stated by All Manipur Students’ Guardian Association secretary S Sumati during a press meet at her office today.
She said that a high level committee headed by the Education minister as chairman with the Education commissioner as secretary, director of Education(S) and zonal education officers as members must be instituted to monitor the services of teachers and the rationalisation policy being followed towards teachers.
The policy of rationalisation of teachers framed by the government with the noble intention of improving the education sector has now come to such a sorry state that it stands in danger of causing the downfall of the education sector, she added.
Under the rationalisation policy, many teachers have been transferred to other schools to fill in for the vacant post of teachers in other schools but after their transfers the schools where they taught earlier are left with vacancies as a result, Sumati said, adding that the government don’t seem to understand the inconveniences faces by the students due to the lack of teachers.
Later, Sumati put a demand before the government to fill up the vacant post of secretary of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur which remains vacant since the retirement of L Rajmohan on July 31.
She suggested that if the post remains vacant, the HSLC examination of 2015 which will be conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur may be beset with several glitches.
She asked the State government to decide on a grand for the welfare of both the Council of Higher Secondary Education and BSEM as they are being maintained by the funds collected from students.
