KANGPOKPI, November 22: With a rapid rise in the incident of rape cases making daily headlines in the State, another minor girl just 2 years and 11 months old was allegedly raped by her own uncle this morning around 10am at S Changoubung Village under Kangpokpi police station.
The girl is said to be in a critical condition.
The girl`™s parents took the matter to the Kuki Women Union, Sadar Hills following which the girl was brought to the CHC, Kangpokpi where doctors confirmed rape.
Her mother left her in the custody of one of her uncle at his residence as she (mother) had to go to Kangpokpi Bazar to sell firewood this morning, according to the mother.
She said her husband works in a private company at Bangalore, while she sells firewood to make ends meet.
`As usual I left my daughter and came down to Kangpokpi bazaar for selling firewood and this horrible incident happened to my daughter.`
Meanwhile, the girl was referred to a hospital in Imphal for further medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills reported the matter to Kangpokpi police station this evening for further necessary action.
Until filing of this report the suspect is yet not apprehended.
