Asia regional meet to discuss right to rehabilitation in the context of armed conflict

IMPHAL, November 29: The International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT), Centre for Organisation Research & Education (CORE) and Indian Red Cross Society will be organising a three-day long IRCT Asia Regional Meeting 2014 from December 1 to 3 under the theme `Rehabilitation as Reparation in the Context of Complex Humanitarian Crisis.`

The announcement was made by president of Elders`™ Council, CORE Dr Debabrata Roy Laifungbam during a press conference at Hotel Imphal today.

He said the meeting will discuss the victims of armed conflict.

He said 17 members from nine countries including India, Nepal, Sir Lanka, Denmark, South Korea, etc. will be attending the meeting. The first day of the meeting will be held at the Hotel Classic, the second at Hotel Imphal and the third day at Sendra Resort.

According to a joint press release of the IRCT and CORE, the meeting will be centred on the theme of `Rehabilitation as reparation in the context of complex humanitarian crisis.`™

It said the meeting will focus on the concept and implementation of the right to rehabilitation in Asia.
