CLP decides on repairing approach roads to Sangai festival main venue

IMPHAL, November 2: Acknowledging that completion of the Sanjenthong before the ensuing Sangai festival, as announced repeatedly on earlier occasions to be impossible, a Congress Legislatures Party meeting today decided to complete repairing works of all roads connected to the main venue of the festival in time.

The meeting held at the Chief Minister’s secretariat from 3:30pm to 6 pm was chaired by the Chief Minister, a source said.

Although the names of the roads were not specified by the source, the CLP could mean the New Checkon road and the Thumbuthong road which are the main roads connected to the main venue at Hafta Kangjeibung.

It is also leant that the decision was arrived at, after consideration that construction of the Sanjenthong which is the main connection point between the two districts of Imphal East and Imphal West could not be completed within the earlier stipulated time which was ahead of the festival.

Other agendas discussed and approved during the meeting include distribution of the MLA Local Area Development Funds ahead of the Christmas festival and to look into the conditions of schools in the hill districts, it said.

It was also decided to upgrade schools in the hill districts to higher secondary schools and provide the needed staff by creating more posts, it said.

The Congress legislators also decided to develop the health infrastructure in the hills and fill in the needed staff.

According to the source, the CLP meeting also decided to invite the Prime Minister to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Sports University construction in the State.
