IMPHAL, November 25: Former Mr India Pradip Kumar formally launched a Training Manual and Case Studies for community based drugs and AIDS program (CBDAP) today organised by the Diocesan Social Service Society launched at its Mantripukhri training hall today.
Three district coordinators of the DSSS will be taking part in the training programme.
Attending as the chief guest, the former Mr India who is himself living with HIV/AIDS said the spread of the virus in the State could have been much less if the doctors had made the people aware that the virus is preventable if not curable during the initial stage when it was first detected in the State.
He said people who are living with the virus need not panic but instead start being positive and put in effort to achieve whatever their aim is.
Pradip also said such training programmes and other campaigns related to AIDS should be encouraged and organised regularly to spread awareness on the issue.
DSSS director Fr Dominic Kanmi who attended as the president elaborated on the need to share love with those living with AIDS and encourage them.
In our State, the lack of education and awareness on the subject has created many difficulties in fighting the issue, he said.
DD Archbishop of Imphal and president DSSS Rev Dominic Lumon attended the inaugural as the guest of honour of the function.
During the programme, a Churachandpur project client Kangai (name changed) shared her experiences including the moral support, medical training for survival, counseling to come forward and to expose her talents received from the DSSS Churachandpur.
Begum (name changed) from Imphal East district and Tenna (name changed) of Ukhrul district also share how they had to suffer in their lives because of the virus and how they were guided by the DSSS in stopping from using drugs.
