BISHNUPUR, October 31: A national Sanitation campaign which commenced on September 25 concluded today at the Kiyamba Ningshing Shanglen, Bishnupur.
The campaign was conducted by the District Water & Sanitation Committee Bishnupur and Social Educational Health & Cultural Development Organisation, SEHCDO, Bishnupur.
Today’s closing function was attended by Bishnupur DC Bobby Waikhom as chief guest, Home secretary Jason A Shimray as special guest, DWSC member secretary O Meino who is also the PHED, Bishnupur EE as president and Bishnupur Municipal Council chairperson L Lolindro, retd CMO, Bishnupur Dr Kh Modhumangol and SDPO S Rameshwar as guests of honour.
Speaking at the function, Jason A Shimray said Bishnupur has high tourism prospects and the people need to keep the district clean to encourage development.
The Swachh Bharat Mission has been effectively conducted in the district, he continued.
Results of the district painting competition conducted at the Bishnupur Public School on October 23 as part of the campaign was also declared today.
Irom Rakesh of The Little Bird’s School, Moirang; Nivash Pukhrambam of LCM School, Moirang and Rojiya Pukhrambam of Little Bird’s School were adjudged the first, second and third position holders respectively in the Class III to V category, whereas Sorokhaibam Rodison Meitei of Mother’s Pride Academy; Oinam Catherin of brighter School, Phoijing Nambol and O Suraj of Little Bird’s School, Moirang were adjudged the first, second and third position holders in the Class VI to VIII category.
