IMPHAL, November 27: An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing 15 Kg was recovered along the NH-2 under Sekmai police station Imphal West district.
The IED was detected by an ROP team of 25 Assam Rifles around 6am planted near a culvert in between Maharabi to Motbung.
Sources speculated that the IED could have been planted to target army convoys. The IED was detected minutes before a large convoy was moving towards Leimakhong.
The Highway was closed down to all form of vehicular traffic until the IED was safely denoted around 9am at the place it was detected.
