Public cooperation is vital in govt ventures, says Okendro

IMPHAL, November 25: Cooperation of the public is vital in any successful implementation of government schemes and projects. Without the support and understanding of the people, it is difficult to move towards progress.

This was stated by Education Minister, Moirangthem Okendro delivering the chief guest speech during the inauguration of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Aimol Khullen under Chandel District today.

The minister continued that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, O Ibobi, the Government of Manipur has been giving priority towards education sector. The Education Department along with its officials concerned has been working collectively to give an impetus to this particular sector, he said.

Okendro further maintained that the Education Department was once stymied by legal cases, but now all the cases have been cleared and the Department is case free.

To give a new direction to the education sector, Manipur Education Service has been instituted, moreover recruitment of required teachers is being taken up through the MPSC, and vacant posts are being filled up, he added.

He continued that the progress made in the Education Department is because of the dedication and hard work of its officials. But without the cooperation of the public, NGOs and students groups operating in the State, it would not have been possible, he said.

As part of the government effort to improve the education sector, recently appointment of regular principals have been made in some of the colleges by the Education department and promotion of teaching faculties has also been done, he added.

Okendro also pointed out that the KGBV School at Aimol Khullen is the third of its kind in the State. The school is part of the flagship programme of the government of India, especially for the under privilege girl students of the country.

He appealed to the school management to maintain the newly inaugurated building of KGBV properly. Efforts will be made to add Standards 9 and 10 in the future which is currently providing facility till Standard 8.

Whenever there is any shortcoming, the department will earnestly see into it and support from the HRD ministry of the Union government will also be sought, he said.

The inaugural function was also attended by AD Korungthang, MLA of Tengnoupal A/C besides officials of the Education department, parents and locals of Aimol Khullen.
