Public meet bans sale and consumption of intoxicants near Ningthoukhong Canal

IMPHAL, November 23: A public meeting organised by the Guardians Action Committee, Ningthoukhong has taken the resolution of prohibiting the sale and consumption of any kind of intoxicants in the vicinity of Ningthoukhong Canal from today. The meeting was held at Ningthoukhong Ward No. 3 at around 4 pm.

The canal covers both the areas of Ningthoukhong Ward No. 2 and 3 in Bishnupur district.

It was unanimously decided in the meeting to ban the consumption of liquor by young boys and girls from afar who dance after getting drunk.

It also banned the abuse of capsules and tablets injurious to health, and the consumption of all kinds of tobacco products in the areas near the canal from today.

Apart from that, shops which sell any sort of intoxicants were asked to shut down from today.

In the public meeting, the councillor of Ward No. 2 of the Ningthoukhong Municipal Council, M Bimola; the councillor of Ward No. 3 of the same council, M Rajen; and local leader Kh Momo Singh were the presidium members.
