10-day long Imphal Expo comes to an end

IMPHAL, Dec 20: The 10-day long Imphal Expo-2014 organised by the Manipur Industrial Development Council in collaboration with the National Small Industries Corporation ltd concluded today at the Iboyaima Shumang Lila Shanglen, Palace Compound.

Minister of Commerce and Industries Govindas Konthoujam who also holds the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry portfolio attended the function as the chief guest.

He said although Manipur is a small State with a small population, the people are industrious and innovative.

He said acknowledging the talents and potential of the youth of the State, even the Centre has taken up various projects to encourage the youth.

The Commerce and Industries minister said there is a need to establish a new market system in the State to explore new market opportunities through organised meetings with potential customers, buyers and suppliers from different parts of the country.

He continued that it will also sustain the economic income and motivate more entrepreneurs in the State, he added.

Govindas also said that in order to develop industries and entrepreneurs in the State, construction of Micro Small Medium Enterprises, MSME have been started at Thoubal and Bishnupur and added more will be open in Imphal East soon.

The function was also attended by Phurailakpam Gunachandra Sharma, president Manipur State Shumang Leela Council, P Loken Singh chairman, Manipur Industries Development Council, Imphal and vice president, Indian Council of Small Industries, Kolkata and D Ghatak, senior branch manager, National Small Industries Corporation Ltd, Guwahati branch as the guest of honour and president.
