AMCTA pledges commitment to improving higher education

IMPHAL, December 27: The All Manipur College Teachers`™ Association (AMCTA) has said that the steps taken up by the association is for the improvement of higher education in the state.

According to a release of AMCTA, there are 28 government colleges in the state and out of them only 3 are professional colleges and the rest are general colleges. It is the aim of AMCTA to improve Higher Education which is considered to be `Gate Way to Life`™ and to fully develop Human Resources. The association has appealed not to bring out any statement on sectoral view towards the movement of AMCTA, it said.

AMCTA has also demanded the government to bring solution to the issues instead of ignoring them. The association will not withdraw their demand till the government has mete out a solution.

The demands of the association were fresh notification for teachers Career Advancement Scheme (CAS), to recruit under the rules and service matters, to appoint regular principals in government colleges, to dismiss any form of faulty orders, to appoint honest and qualified officers and Higher Education Commissioners and to distribute Special Compensatory Allowance (SCA), Transport Allowance (TA) as top priority to the college teachers.

The association once again appealed the government to bring solutions in order to avoid further actions to be taken up by AMCTA, it said.
