FEGOCTA says it has no other interests than that of teachers` solidarity and uplifting education

IMPHAL, December 18: The Federation of Government College Teachers`™ Association, FRGOCTA Manipur has said that the association is an apex body of all the government colleges`™ teachers of Manipur.

According to a release, it said the office bearers, advisors, executive committee and members of FEGOCTA are from the older teachers`™ bodies of AMGOCTA, AMCTA and GOCTAM. It maintained that it has never release any vindictive statement in the press and will never do so in the future.

Further it said the association is a voluntary body which stands for excellence in higher education and the integrity and solidarity of the teachers.

It said it is an academic and intellectual movement which follows its own procedures to always safeguard the collective interest and image of teachers.

It maintained that FEGOCTA has been in the forefront demanding for adoption and implementation of UGC regulations 2010 including creation of the post of professors in the colleges and appointment of all the regular Principals in transparent and credible manner.

It added that the association has also been demanding the release of SCA/TA for 49 months, constitution of State Higher Education Service, increase in budgetary allocation in higher education, filling up of vacant posts of librarians and non-teaching staff, development of modern infrastructure, increase in GPF ceiling limit, promotion of all eligible teachers under CSA scheme etc.

The release continued that the philosophy of FEGOCTA is focused on maintenance of peaceful academic atmosphere as well as protection of the interest of the teaching community and the students.

It said the association works for the uplift of the overall standard and quality of higher education and subscribe to negotiation and amicable solution of all issues.

The association will also be compelled to move to the court for justice when the interest of the teaching community is affected by any action of the government, it added.

It recalled that the national seminar on UGC regulations on Academic Performance Indicator, API was organised by FEGOCTA on March 10, 2014 in collaboration with Imphal College and NG College.

It was sponsored by the Higher Education Department after being approved by the minister of the department, the release added.
