HRI observds HR day

IMPHAL, December 10: The Human Rights Initiative (HRI) has observed the United Nation Human Rights Day under the theme `Human Rights 365`at HRI office, Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal, Palace Compound, Imphal here today.

While delivering speech at the function acting chairman, HRI Yumnam Ratankumar has said that the UN General Assembly proclaimed 10th December as Human Rights Day in 1950 to bring to the attention of the people of the world and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations. He also said that this year`™s slogan `Human Rights 365`™ encompasses the idea that every day is Human Rights Day.

Human Rights Day celebrates the fundamental proposition in the Universal Declaration that every individual, everywhere, at all times is entitled to the full range of human rights and also belong equally to each individual and bind together as a global community with the same ideals and values he added.

Professor at LMS Law College, Dr. N Pramod spoke on the topic of `International humanitarian law and Manipur situation`™ and said that both human rights and humanitarian law is very essential in the context of Manipur and people of the state should also be aware of such rights and law.

He further said that the role of the civil organisations play very important role in educating the people about the human rights.

General Secretary, Manipur Cultural Integration Conference, LC Ruhinikumar also attended the function.
