KSO, Chandel warns irregular teachers

CHANDEL, December 17: The Kuki Students`™ Organisation, Chandel district has claimed that several teachers were found absent from their respective posting places in Chandel district during surprise visits conducted by the student body during the span of the past few months.

Speaking to media persons, president the KSO Chandel Doumang Haokip said during their inspection visits to schools in the district, most teachers were found absent or not dispensing their duties at their respective place of postings.

He said the student body will initiate actions against any teacher found absent from their respective places of posting from the next academic session.

Appealing to the concerned authorities to inspect the schools in the district regularly, he urged the government to install biometric machines in every school from the next session to ensure that the teachers are regular.

He further demanded that the school authorities should strictly adhere to school uniforms and text books for the students as well as release all the funds for the school maintenance to the accounts of the School Management Committees on or before the commencement of the academic session.

The concern authorities should also deliver the rice for the mid-day meal scheme to the school campuses so as to ensure that it is not misappropriated by anyone and that the students get to enjoy their meal during school hours, he asked.

Health and Environment secretary of the KSO Chandel who was also present at the press conference said the authorities concerned are yet to materialise the assurance of the local MLA and chief medical officer, Chandel to install an Ultrasound machine at the Tengnoupal Primary Health Centre. He said the assurance was given during the inauguration of the 24×7 services at the PHC.

He continued that the ambulance provided to the health centre has remain unattended for long and cannot be used even in times of emergency due to mechanical problem.

There are also no drivers for the ambulance in the PHC, he continued.

He appealed to the local MLA and the CMO to act on their assurances and install the machine and provide an ambulance which is in working condition at the earliest.

Today`™s press conference was held after a joint meeting of village chiefs, KSO-Chandel and the bloc units of the student body today at H Kotlenphai Village.
