State to fill up vacant post of teachers in aided colleges

IMPHAL, Dec 19: Dr I Ibohalbi, , MLA of Yumnam A/C, today came down heavily against the high-handedness of the officials of the Education Department, government of Manipur, even to an MLA, during discussion on a matter of public interest, regarding the failure of the government in filling up of vacant post of teachers in government aided colleges.

The issue was raised for discussion by Dr Ibohalbi in the ongoing Assembly Session today.

Education Minister, M Okendro during the discussion maintained that aided colleges are taking vital role in imparting higher education in the State. Among the seven aided colleges, the State government has filled up vacancies in three colleges on February 28, 2013, he said.

He further said that the review committee which was constituted by the government on aided colleges had submitted a 7-points recommendation to the State government on September 4, 2013. The State Cabinet had taken up one point from among the seven, and thereby extended the superannuation age to 65 years for the teachers, he informed.

He added that the remaining points recommended by the committee will be taken up soon. He also informed that according to Manipur Educational Code 1982, vacancies of teachers in Liberal College, Thambal Marik and Mayai Lambi College will be filled up before March 1015.

The minister also informed that under the guidelines of the RUSA scheme, there is no provision to regularise the teachers in aided college. He said he will give strict instruction against those high-handed officials of the Education Department to maintain proper discipline in the office.
