IMPHAL, December 27: MLA Thanga T Mangibanu Singh who is also the chairman of Planning and Development Authority and IPS officer Jogeshchandra Haobijam were felicitated today by the All Manipur Thanga People`™s Welfare Association (AMTPWA) at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
Ex-minister Tongbram Mangibabu who is also the vice-president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee was appointed as chairman of the PDA on December 2, 2014. On the other hand CO of 3rd IRB, Jogeshchandra Haobijam was recently promoted to IPS.
Jogeshchandra Haobijam said promotion to the IPS rank is not an easy task as the service record of the police officer for the past six years is minutely checked by the Centre.
He said he had been instrumental in bringing under control some of the armed under-ground groups affected areas under Thanga constituency and in improving the public-police relation.
Jogeschandra said he would be promoted to DIG rank in another eight to nine years and that he would continue to develop the public-police relation to maintain peace in the State.
Meanwhile, the Thanga MLA called upon to make AMTPWA a stronger body as it is an apex body of Thanga.
He said he will promote Thanga area to be a tourist destination.
