UKHRUL, Dec 29: Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Delhi ( TKLD) is gearing up to celebrate the first ever “™LUIRA PHANIT`™`™ (Tangkhul seed sowing festival) in the national capital on 28 February 2015.
Sources from the Luira Phanit organizing committee and the TKLD executives disclosed that by celebrating Luira festival at Delhi, they desire to promote the very notion and essential components in understanding the Tangkhul community`™s identity.
`In larger metropolitan cities like Delhi, it can be so easy for youngsters to feel lost amidst so many other cultures and backgrounds when others know so little or least about our culture` said the source while adding that nevertheless participating in setting up of our cultural heritage/practice can provide a spontaneous sense of unity and belongingness among Tangkhuls anywhere.
`This further allows us to better understand the older generations and the history of where we come from and help keep them alive ,` they exuded.
Meanwhile, TKLD today informed IFP that preparation for the event are on war footing and that various festivities pertaining to the forthcoming festival would be worked out within a few days`™ time.
