CM flags off State contingent for National Games

IMPHAL, January 24: The Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has said that the government will try to provide jobs for athletes with outstanding achievements.

He said this in his address to the State contingent for the upcoming 35th National Games at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex during the flag-off ceremony of the State contingent participating at the 35thNational Games going in Kerala.

The function was organised by Manipur Olympic Association.

The Chief Minister said the youths of the State have brought laurels on numerous occasions in the field of sports. Manipur is known and regarded as a sports powerhouse, and the world knows, and has witnessed, the sporting talent of the State, he added.

Ibobi said athletes with outstanding performances will be inducted into government jobs as per their qualifications, adding that the Government might not be able to accommodate all the sportspersons but the government will not hesitate in inducting outstanding sportspersons. He also mentioned that sportspersons with spectacular achievements are also employed by the Indian Railways, Indian Navy and CRPF etc.

He further said that the State takes pride in its sporting achievements, and its arts and culture for which it is renowned the world over, extending his best wishes to the State contingent for the upcoming 35th National Games.

Today, the 198 member-contingent including several officials were flagged-off from the Khuman Lampak Sports complex. The team was led by two deputy chef-de-missions identified as K Jayananda Sharma and Guru Aribam Sanatomba Sharma.
