Man attacked, suffers multiple bullet injuries

IMPHAL, January 19: Armed miscreants shot at a man injuring him at his Lilong residence last evening around 6:45. Two suspects in the case, one of them believed to be a security personnel were handed over to the police late this evening, according to sources.

The victim has been identified as Md Amzad Ali, 30, son of Md Liyaquat Ali of Lilong Houreibi Makha Leikai under Lilong Police Station Thoubal district.

He sustained multiple bullet injuries on his stomach.

Sources informed that Md Amzad is engaged in timber business along the Imphal-Moreh highway.

A case has been registered at the concerned police station in this regard.

Meanwhile, late in the evening police reportedly arrested two suspects involved in the incident.

It has been informed that one out of the two suspects is said to be a security personnel and were apprehended by a social organisation Anjuman Islah-e-Muaashrah (AIM), Lilong and later handed over to the police.

They have been identified as one Md Minhadur Rahman, 30, son of Noor Rahman Lilong Houreibi Chandakhong and Md Siraj Khan alias Laiman, 34, son of Abdul Manan from the same locality.

Minhadur is said to be a personnel of 8th IRB and a single barrel gun was recovered from him. At the same time, a double-barrel gun with two live ammunitions was also recovered from Siraj Khan, informed sources.
