Chandel, January 16: Chandel MLA Nunghlung Victor opened the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Nungpan Village in Chandel district today.
The MLA attended the celebration as chief guest, while, principal of DIET Chandel HB Thanison of Nungpan Village, SDO of Machi Sub Division Dy Juli and executive member of Chandel Autonoumous District Council Sr Volhring – a resident of Nungpan village – attended the celebration as the functional president and the guests of honour respectively.
Nunghlung Victor unveiled a monument erected to mark the occasion.
A souvenir of the celebration was also released by Pastor of Nungpan Baptist Church Rev HB Farocky Anal.
Village secretary HB Peter handing out presentations, speeches from the dignitaries persent and village elders, rendering of songs by ningols who have married out of the village, cultural dance presentations by the Y Khutha cultural dance troupe and the Jubilee feast served as the main highlight of the celebration.
Convenor of the organising Committee HB Ngamdal in his key note addressed led the audience in observation a 2-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls of the village elders and founders who have hone to be with the Lord.
Representatives from civil organisations, public leaders, social workers, chiefs and pastors from the surrounding villages also attended the platinum jubilee celebration.
