IMPHAL, January 20: Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar`™s allegations against the present Congress government and its ministers, is not only unfortunate but misleading, claimed State government spokesperson Moirangthem Okendro Singh today.

He was speaking to media persons at his New Secretariat office chamber this evening replying to the scathing attack launched by the Andro MLA against the present Congress government in the State.

Andro MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar had announced yesterday that he will resign from his seat by April first week if the Union government fails to intervene and rectify the systematic failures witness in every department of the State.

The MLA had also said that he will be apprising the Prime Minister and the Union Ministers of various departments and submitting relevant documents regarding the malpractices of minister and high ranking officials in the State.

The allegations are baseless, unfounded and misleading, Education minister Okendro told media persons today.

The MLA`™s allegation, Okendro said, is only an effort to shift the focus from the inner issues that the Trinamool Congress MLAs are facing in the State for violation of the 10th Schedule of the Constitution and the subsequent disqualification cases registered at the Tribunal of the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

He said the Congress and its government have no concern whatsoever for Shyamkumar`™s threat to resign from his seat as he is neither a part of the government or the party.

There is a lot of room for debate on any issue on the floor of the State Asembly, he said adding that, there is, however, only one answer to the threat of resignation which is informing the CEO to undertake the process for a by-poll as the constituency cannot be left without an elected representative.

The Congress has now 48 MLAs in the State Assembly, and would like to add another member to take the number to 49, the State Education minister said picking at the Andro MLA`™s resignation threat.

Although the allegations included that various departments of the State government are not functioning properly and are corrupted, the MLA has not specified any details of the alleged wrongdoings, he asserted.

Coming to the issue of the dog-bite menace, he said a special cabinet meeting was called yesterday following which the Veterinary department and other concerned departments have been instructed to conduct preventive care including proper vaccination of pets and victims in every district.

The concern district administrations led by the DCs have also been informed to take precautionary measures, he added.

Around Rs 1.75 crore have been already sanctioned to the Health department for buying the anti-rabies vaccination from various sources outside State.

Meanwhile, clarifying to the reports that the education sector has been left unattended and that sufficient books and other infrastructure are not provided to schools even after classes have already commenced, he said the department had tied up with the Board of Secondary Education Manipur for preparing the sufficient number of text books and they will soon be made available.

In comparison to the past years, text books have been provided much earlier this year in most schools except for a few schools, the Education minister added.
