Tangkhuls to revel Miss Luira contest at Delhi

UKHRUL, January 11: Miss Luira Contest will be among the main attractions of the first ever Tangkhul Luira Phanit to be celebrated at New Delhi on 28 February, 2015, the organizer Tangkhul Katamnao Long Delhi (TKLD) has informed.

The beauty contest will have a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 for the winner, while the first runners-up and second runners-up will receive Rs. 7, 000 and Rs. 5, 000 respectively, informed TKLD adding that nomination for the same will continue till 10 February.

There will also be competition for Best Hao Laa singing group during the celebration for which groups consisting of 15 persons each will compete. Prize for this competition will also carry Rs. 10, 000 for the winner group and Rs. 7, 000 and Rs. 5, 000 the second and third positions respectively.

Inviting all Tangkhuls residing in Delhi to be a part of the festival, TKLD also further informed that they are gearing to organize exihibition of indeginous items by opening stalls as part of the festival.

Meanwhile, elaborating the concept of organizing Luira festival at the national capital, TKLD asserted in a statement that: `preserving our culture is not only essential to know our personal identity, but to connect ourselves with cultural values.`

Exploring cultural heritage or preserving thereof offers a strong and healthy variety of benefits and contribute to restore a sense of confidence and pride by reviving our cultural traditions, it said.

`I believe that “™I` representing our (Tangkhul ) culture to this beautiful world with our beautiful culture has my own role to play in this coming event, exuded one of the organizing members.
