Third IED in four days explodes in Imphal

IMPHAL, January 23: A powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) yet again exploded in Imphal today, marking this the seventh explosion in the state and third explosion within Imphal during the last four days.

The latest explosion took place around 4.30 pm along the western bank of Nambul River opposite Keishamthong Laishom Leirak under Imphal police station. However, no human casualty was reported due to the blast.

The intensity of the blast was so powerful that it created a crater four feet wide radius and two feet deep.

Soon after the blast, top police officials including the DIG (Range-I), SP Imphal West, additional (SP Ops), SDPO commando and bomb expert rushed at the area.

It is worth noting that a full dress rehearsal for the upcoming 65th Republic Day celebration was conducted this morning.
