Tribunal defers hearing of Trinamool Congress MLAs disqualification yet again

IMPHAL, January 15: The hearing of disqualification cases against some Trinamool Congress MLAs, MSCP MLAs and a LJP MLA has been deferred again yesterday.

The hearing of the disqualification case No. 1 filed by Adim Pamei against five MLAs of MSCP: Kangpokpi A/C MLA Nemcha Kipgen, Keirao A/C MLA Karam Thamarjit, Tamenglong A/C MLA Zamhenglung Pamei, P Wangjing Tentha A/C MLA Brogendro and Sagolband A/C MLA, RK Imo has been postponed on January 17.

The hearings of the disqualification case No. 7 filed by MPTCC president Th Shyamkumar against Konthoujam A/C MLA K Sarat and the case No. 11 filed by K Sarat against Th Shymakumar has been fixed on January 22 on yesterday as both the counsels of the cases were out of station and so couldn`™t appear before the court.

The hearings of cases number 9, 10, 12 and 13 filed by Thangmeiband A/C MLA Kh Joykisan, Thongju A/C MLA Th Bishwajit, Wangoi A/C MLA Lukhoi and former MPTCC president Kim Gangte against Andro A/C MLA respectively against Th Shyamkumar had also been deferred to January 16 as the counsel of the MLAs has been replaced.

Lastly, the next hearing of cases number 14, 15, 16 filed by Lok Janashakti Party worker Kh Vimal, BJP workers N Momon Meitei and K Sharatchandra respectively against Langthabal A/C MLA Karam Shyam was deferred to January 17.

The hearing on these cases yesterday lasted from 10 am till the late evening and the Speaker heard and discussed various issues on the matter.

The cases had been taken up under paragraph 2(1) a of the Tenth Schedule r/w Article 191(2) of the Constitution of India and the relevant provisions of the Manipur Legislature Assembly Rule, 1986 around 16 disqualified cases has been registered at the Tribunal of the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
