CPI(ML) flay threat to Thoudang editor

IMPHAL, Feb 27: The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), in a press release resented the manner in which the government is doing nothing about the threat on the life of Khoirom Loyalakpa, editor of local daily, Naharolgi Thoudang.

The release urged on the government not to remain a mute spectator when the press is threatened. It said the press is a vital pillar of democracy and attack on it is tantamount to attack on the democratic polity.

It said freedom of speech, therefore the freedom of the press is an important part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations. Everybody must respect this universal norm, it said.
