Hill districts schools suffer apathy of BoSEM and Government

KANGPOKPI, Mar 30: The Hill Districts Private Recognized Schools Association Manipur at a meeting of All Private Schools Association, Senapati with apex student`™s body SDSA at Senapati District H/Q expressed disappointment towards the BOSEM and Government of Manipur for neglecting the grievances of private schools in Hill districts inspite of memorandum and representation submitted to the Chairman and Secretary of BOSEM on Nov 12, 2014.

The meeting observed that in spite of repeated request to supply textbooks like Elementary Manipuri (Roman Scripts), Oxford Computer Science and other textbooks not available in the market, the BoSEM continues to sideline the issues faced by the schools in Hill Districts.

At the same time issue of imposing late fine for submission and transfer cases has been raised many a times to the concerned authorities but there has no positive response till today. The private schools want inclusion of Additional English in the BOSEM syllabus like before in the interest of minority tribes, the meeting observed.

Irked by the silence and ill treatment of Hill District schools, the Principals/Proprietors of these schools have decided to convene a meeting on April 8 at Senapati, Sadar Hills, Chandel, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Churachandpur to discuss further course of action.

They also expressed their want for a separate board for the Hills Districts or go with CBSE or ICSE saying that the Government of Manipur and BoSEM have always turn a deaf ear to the grievances and problems faced by the Hill District schools.
