Bandh in abduction case called off, but demands remain

IMPHAL, April 13: The JAC formed against the kidnapping of a 17 year old minor girl from Gaikhanam Kabui Village, Imphal West has called off the indefinite bandh scheduled to start on April 15 along the both National Highway of Manipur.

Speaking to media person at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today, the JAC member Ranjita Golmei said that the indefinite bandh was withdrawn following an understanding between the JAC and the Government.

Giving the background of the agitation, she said after the girl was abducted, the victim`™s parents went to the concern Police Station at Lamphel to file a missing report of their daughter but the police refused to make them lodge their complaint.

Thereafter, the family members accompanied by some locals approach to the Dy Chief Minster Gaikhanagam and complained to him of the matter on March 21.

The JAC has demanded the suspension or transfer of Lamphel PS, OC Dorendro and to take up appropriate action against the involved police personnel in that regard at the earliest, she said.

She further demanded slap PACSO against the allegedly culprit from Khetrigao for raping a 17 years old minor girl within three month.
