IMPHAL, April 10: A commando personnel has been hospitalized at Shija Hospital, Langol with severe head injuries after he was beaten by a mob over a spate at Lilong Khunou under Lilong Police Station in Thoubal district today around 2.30 pm.
The injured commando is identified as Ashangbam Keshorjit Singh, 35 son of A Seitabanta Singh of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai, Imphal West.
He is a Havildar of 1st Manipur Rifles attached to Thoubal District Police Commando and is currently posted at Lilong Police Station.
According to reports, Keshorjit along with four other personnel dressed in civil clothes tried to stop a group of bikers who were performing a bike stunt at Lilong Khunou. There, a heated confrontation erupted between the two sides resulting in a fight.
In the fight, Keshorjit suffered grievous injuries on his head. He was admitted to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment but shifted to Shija Hospital after his condition got worsened, the reports said.
