THOUBAL, April 1: A sit in protest was held near NRL oil pump by the fishmongers of Thoubal market against the steps taken up by Thoubal Municipal Council to change the location of the fishmongers from their original place today.
The protestors displayed written placards stating that it condemned the action of the TMC Chairperson who inflicted violence upon women and for rejecting the words of the CM.
A woman vendor who was part of the protest stated that since the inauguration of Thoubal market, the place for women fishmongers have been relocated twice. The fishmongers refused to shift again, said the protestor. She further said that they strongly condemned the violence inflicted on a woman vendor yesterday and further threatening to cut off the cards of the vendors. The vendors will continue to go on strike till an understanding is brought, said the protestor.
