JAC on Kadangband killing urges CM to expedite magisterial inquiry

KANGPOKPI, April 13: The Joint Action Committee on Kadangband killings in which a civilian and an officer of KNF, an SoO signatory was shot dead has urged the Chief Minister of Manipur to expedite the Magisterial Inquiry of the alleged fake encounter today.

A representation submitted to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today signed by Chairman of the JAC, Thangminlen Haokip aired their grievances over the slow pace of the Magisterial Inquiry which according to the JAC was constituted consequent to their demand for investigation of the alleged fake encounter killing at Kadangband on January 28 perpetrated by Assam Rifles.

It also claimed that according to the Government vide orders No.20/1(13)/2013-H(LC)Pt, dated January 31, 2015 the time frame set for the inquiry was two month.

However, the time period of `not more than 2 months`™ as specified in the orders has expired which is extremely dissatisfaction to them as they expected the Government to deliver on its promise on time added the representation.

It is their wish that the veracity of the fake encounter in which 2 people were killed and three other injured be properly established by the Government and brought to its meaningful righteous conclusion said the JAC Chairman.

While urging the state Chief Minister to look into the matter and expedite the inquiry in the interest of justice, JAC Chairman Thangminlen Haokip allegedly recounted that it was a fake encounter set up by the AR who ambushed the victim party with an intent to kill resulting in the death of one civilian and another officer of KNF, a SoO signatory under UPF with the Governments.

It may be mentioned that the JAC on Kadangband killing had already imposed 5 days economic blockade along all the national highway in the state on February 17 midnight and pondered a state wide general strike over the incident which had been withdrawn considering the appeals of KIM.
