Manipur AYUSH Council coming up soon: Phungzathang

IMPHAL, April 24: The State government has already established the Manipur medical Council for medical and is planning to establish the Manipur AYUSH Council soon, announced State Health, Family Welfare and AYUSH minister Phungzathang Tonsing today.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the Manipur State Arogya Fair, 2015 at the Manipur Film Development Corporation.

The fair is being organised by the Director AYUSH, government of Manipur in collaboration with the Vision Foundation, Manipur under the aegis of the Ministry of AYUSH.

He said the government is building a 50-bedded AYUSH hospital at Lamphelpat which will be inaugurated soon.

Speaking as the guest of honour, Homoeopathic Medical Association president Dr M Nara Singh said the benefit of the mela will end with the mela.

He said, AYUSH is made up of five components- Ayurveda, Unani, Sida, Homoeo and Yoga.

AYUSH is not a subject, and one has to choose only one of the five components to study, he said.

Meanwhile, a free health check-up and distribution of free medicines was also held during the inaugural day.

As a part of the inaugural function District Yoga Training Association also presented as Yoga Demonstration.

In the inaugural function, Director of Health Services and State Mission Director Dr O Ibomcha Singh and director AYUSH, Manipur Dr K Lokendro Singh also attended as guest of honour and president respectively.
