Old Age pensions to be distributed on April 10

IMPHAL, April 7: Minister AK Mirabai has announced that the Old Age Pension for the years March 2013 to February 2015, a total of Rs 4800 (Rs 200 per month) per head, will be distributed at 1st MR Ground at 10:00 am to the pensioners of Imphal West and Imphal East.

To initiate the process the Minister has today distributed entitlements to 10 pensioners at her office chamber at the New Secretariat.

The Minister also said the recipients need to bring with them a photocopy of voter ID, two passport size colour photographs, if he/she holds Aadhar card to get a photocopy of it, if he/she has the account of bank to get photocopy of it too.

If someone has lost his or her pension booklet then, he or she would have to enclose a written copy which would then be forwarded to the concerned Social Welfare District officer.

She appealed to everybody not to miss out any of the documents mentioned. She further said that the previous card will have to be deposited with the Department in order a new card can be issued. She further explained that every white card holder will get Rs. 3400 and blue & green card holders will get Rs. 4800 for two years on the day.

Mirabai further clarified that the delay in distributing the Old Age Pension is due to the non-availability of bank accounts of most of the pensioners. She advanced that each and every pensioner must now open their own bank account for Direct Transfer System implemented by the Central Government can be activated.

This time the money will be handed over in cash to the pensioner, keeping in view the inability of many to open bank accounts, she said.
