Truck carrying ganja (weed) seized at Jiribam Manipur

IMPHAL, Apr 25: Security forces intercepted a truck coming towards Jiribam from Imphal along the Imphal-Jiribam highway and seized 89 boxes stuffed with ganja this afternoon.

Police sources said a Noney Police team led by Inspector P Keishing had intercepted the truck at Rangkhong under Noney Police Station about 9 km west of the Police Station around 5:35pm.

The police team was assisted by teams of CRPF led by CRPF 86 battalion, C-Company assistant commandant Daniel and CRPF 86 battalion, C-Company assistant commandant Amik.

The driver of the truck bearing registration no AS 01 7958 has been identified as Ningombam Premjit, 25, son of N Sachi of lairenkabi Village under Lamsang PS. The driver has been arrested along with the seized ganja.

Each box was stuffed with around 15-20 kgs of ganja, according to a police source.
